Specialized in the broad range of social-urban issues requiring the attention of public administration, decision making and civil society, Bureau Write-Art offers sophisticated skills in communication, journalism and research. The Bureau is led by Jeannette Veninga who works both as a project coordinator or a as specialist partner in a team, either on location or within governmental and research environments. The bureau undertakes investigations, interviews, desktop studies and produces written reports on behalf of public administrations, academic institutions and non-profit organizations. Mrs. Veninga’s MSc thesis on ‘Social trust in the field of governance, civil society, social middle spectrum and citizens of Detroit and Rotterdam’ provides a useful insight on the issues and methods that are being applied. In order to learn about the different types of activities, feel free to access other locations of this site: policy and projects, text and communication, as well as journalism and research.

‘If, during the night hour, you gaze into the city, you can think at one moment that it is silent, only sometimes. But illusion has played a trick on you and silence exists only as a short moment. A car, a tram, a train or a mobile phone of a lonely walker will disrupt the idea instantly. It depends on the hour of the day, if, in the city, in the centre or just a near the outskirts, you can hear some birds singing. The sound of people is everywhere; you can shelter yourself by plugging in earphones. Electronic sound bits can resemble birdsongs, but than you realize that it was made by a synthesizer. One and the same sound effect is different inside the city than outside of it. You can not switch off the city, at no moment, and because of that the city is loved and hated at the same time. It vibrates in the city, the buzzing, the noise the busy human crowd’. JV

PROFILE

Policy Mrs Veninga works since five years in public administration. Write-Art contributes to the development of policy proposals triggering changes in the social structure of community life in cities. The way policy is approaching neighborhood-specific problems in different parts of the city receives Write-Art’s full attention.

Projects The bureau has substantial experience in project coordination inside and outside of the public sector. If there is a need for pilot studies, experiments or projects which support a specific policy topic, Write-Art is certainly ready to step in.

Text A text can be powerful, direct, fascinating, formal or purely administrative in nature. All of these styles are being requested
by contemporary policy agencies. Write-Art likes to surprise and intrigue by avoiding the cliché and exploring the boundaries of a topic, occasionally using one-liners or metaphors. The Bureau advices and writes for online-use as well as for hard copy
products.

Communication Organisations seek profile and expression
through words, spoken and written. Words are important to
make the difference recognizable and to evoke interest, even provoke reaction. Write-art puts its written products to work
as a facilitator and catalyst for processes within public agencies. Analysis, intranet and internet text, newsletters and the coordination of communication groups are the key expertise of Write-Art.

Journalism The initial driving force behind Write-Art is journalism. Still the company is producing articles, interviews and back-
ground reportages. Curiosity and creativity are still the source of inspiration.

Research  Write-Art’s approach is base on making use of facts, interviews and background knowledge. Organisations of the
public and the non-profit domain have been clients seeking research and recommendations with regard to their own
internal structures and processes.
